13th July is Paltdagen!! A day to celebrate dumplings made from raw potatoes. This Swedish dish is very common in the north part of Sweden. Not to be mistaken for kroppkakor though! They are similar. Palt is served with the tangy lingonbärssylt, butter and a glass of cold milk on the side. I have never tried palt. Today, I made some for myself with the help of my youngest son. In this episode, we will look into the brief history of potatoes in Sweden, the variety of palt and we will explore the word "fart". Yes, a word that has a totally different meaning in Swedish. How to make palt? Go to www.fikadrottning.com to get my version of the recipe. Glad Paltdagen!
