This April marks 20 years since the lovable anti-hero Shrek first hurled mud at the silver screen. An Ogre with as many layers as a stinky old onion, he captured the hearts of movie-goers, spawning three sequels and an endless wealth of memes. The soundtrack solidified the enduring relevance of Smash Mouth, and the box office take and critical recognition established DreamWorks Animation as a substantial competitor to Pixar.
