This week we review Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation and never for a moment confuse it with Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One. Christopher Shea joins us to discuss what IMF stands for and debate if money or social value is more effective at attracting lovers. Also, Alan is wrong about everything.

Episode 37 Notes

  • Tom Cruise and Ving Rhames are the only actors to appear in all five Mission: Impossible films
  • Simon Pegg plays Benji Dunn in the Mission: Impossible franchise and Scotty in the Star Trek franchise
  • Alan was wrong about Jon Voight portrayed Ethan Hunt in the TV version of Mission: Impossible (1966–1973). As far as I can tell, Jon Voight was not in the TV show and the character of Ethan Hunt was created for the film series.
  • The previous films in the series are Brian De Palma’s Mission: Impossible (1996), John Woo’s Mission: Impossible 2 (2000), J.J. Abrams’ Mission: Impossible 3 (2006), and Brad Bird’s Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol (2011)
  • At the time Mission: Impossible was released, Pierce Brosnan had just portrayed James Bond in GoldenEye (1995)
  • M:I5 director Christopher McQuarrie wrote The Usual Suspects (1995)
  • Despite Alan’s claims, “Theme from Mission: Impossible” was written and composed by Lalo Schifrin
  • Christopher Shea is excited about Arri’s Alexa 65 camera. It was used for an underwater scene in Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation and will also be used to shoot Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One (2016)
  • We reviewed Kingsman: The Secret Service (2014) in “Episode 16: Kingsman: The Secret Service”
  • Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation opens in the USA on July 31, 2015
