Living with pain day after day can be stressful. It can also lead to mental health problems. In fact, one-third of adults with arthritis have anxiety or depression.

Stress has been known to make chronic pain worse. Stress can cause your muscles to tense or spasm, which increases pain. When you feel stressed, levels of the hormone cortisol rise. This can cause inflammation and pain over time.

Rick graduated from physical therapy school in 1996. After failing to help his patients adequately, he realized that standard physical therapy education left him unprepared to truly help people with chronic pain or nagging injuries. As a result, Rick has spent the last 20+ years developing his pioneering approach.
