  • China Approves Microsoft-Nokia Deal
    Microsoft’s acquisition of Nokia devices and services business took a big step towards completion after the Ministry of Commerce in China formally approved the $7.2 billion deal.The two companies have been waiting on approval from various governments in Asia, and recently announced that deal is expected to close this month, having missed the initial deadline of Q1 2014.
  • Microsoft's Support Ends for Windows XP and Office 2003
    Microsoft’s support for two major products ends today: Windows XP and Office 2003. As a result, the company will no longer release security updates for either of the two, and it recommends users who still use either to get a newer version.
  • Netflix is now streaming 4K, starting with 'House of Cards' | The Verge
    At the beginning of the year, Netflix revealed that it would be producing all of its original shows in 4K — and now some of that content is finally available to stream. Unsurprisingly, the first show to get the ultra HD treatment is Netflix's biggest original show, House of Cards. The company has confirmed that the recently launched second season of House of Cards is now available in 4K, along with "some nature documentaries." Netflix had previously said that it planned to start airing 4K content in the spring.
  • 'Sesame Street' launches its own kid-friendly streaming service | The Verge
    Elmo and Cookie Monster are taking on Netflix. The Sesame Workshop has just launched its own streaming service that lets you stream as many Sesame Street episodes as you want for a monthly fee. Called Sesame Go, the service is browser-based, and includes access to "hundreds" of new and classic episodes of the show, as well as the animated series Pinky Dinky Doo. It'll cost you $3.99 per month or $29.99 a year. At launch the service is only available in the US, and works on Mac, Windows, and mobile devices.
  • Marvel teases Avengers in Disney Infinity '2.0 Edition' | Polygon
    Marvel's Avengers appear to be on their way to Disney Interactive's Disney Infinity, according to a teaser trailer released today by Marvel Entertainment.The 27-second clip, named "Get Ready to Assemble," shows Captain America's shield flying through the world of Disney Infinity, zooming past characters like Dash from The Incredibles, Sully from Monsters, Inc. and Captain Jack Sparrow from the Pirates of the Caribbean films. A Disney Infinity logo pops up at the end of the video, along with a label mentioning a "2.0 Edition."
