  • Mailbox launches for Android, and you can sign up for the desktop beta for the Mac - The Next Web
    Dropbox has announced that the Android version of its popular email client Mailbox will arrive today. The company also showed off a Mac version of the app, which is currently accepting beta signups. Also new to Mailbox is an auto-swipe function that can learn from individual archive and snooze actions in order to process similar emails in the future.
  • Facebook will turn off messaging in its mobile app, forcing you to download Messenger | The Verge
    Facebook's plans to become an empire of mobile apps got a little more interesting today as the company began notifying users in a few European countries that in two weeks, they won't be able to message friends through the Facebook app anymore. They'll need to download Messenger for iOS or Android to do so, the company's popular chat app. The messages button will remain in the Facebook app, but will boot users out to Messenger when tapped. A Facebook spokesperson confirmed to The Verge that stripping Messenger out of the main Facebook app is not a test, and will at some point in the near future happen in every country.
  • Here's the man who's leading Motorola starting today | The Verge
    There's a new person in charge of Motorola Mobility. Rick Osterloh has been named president and COO of the mobile company — which is in the midst of a sale to Lenovo. Osterloh takes on his new role immediately and will report to Google until Lenovo's purchase of Motorola is finalized and approved. After that, it's really anyone's guess how long he'll stick around. But at least for the immediate future, he's at the helm of the Moto X maker.
  • Dropbox unveils Carousel for organizing your photos and videos | The Verge
    Dropbox today announced Carousel, a product to store and manage your photos and videos. It incorporates features from Snapjoy, a photo startup that Dropbox acquired in December 2012. The launch of Carousel represents a bid for Dropbox to diversify its lineup of products — and potential revenue streams — as it prepares for an expected initial public offering of its stock. The app is available today.
  • HBO orders two more seasons of 'Game of Thrones' | The Verge
    The fourth season of HBO's hit series Game of Thrones just kicked off this past Sunday, but HBO has already ordered two additional seasons of the program. The network made the announcement this morning, with head of programming Michael Lombardo saying that showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss "continue to surpass themselves, and we look forward to more of their dazzling storytelling."
  • The Last of Us Remastered confirmed for PS4 release this summer | Polygon
    A remastered version of Naughty Dog's post-apocalyptic survival game, The Last of Us, will launch for PlayStation 4 with the game's previously released downloadable content.The Remastered Edition, priced at $59.99 on Amazon, will also include in-game cinematic commentary from the voices of Joel and Ellie — Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson, respectively — and creative director Neil Druckmann. It will feature 1080p, as well as higher resolution character models, improved shadows and lighting, and other gameplay tweaks.
