Welcome back to another episode of For The Creators, where its our job to demystify creativity. In these long form conversations, we tease out tips and tricks from creatives who are both in front and behind the scenes of the creative industry.
••
In this episode we sit down with the founders of We Are Stripes, Nene Parsotam, Haydn Corrodus and Akama Davies. We Are Stripes endeavours to address the ethnic diversity imbalance in the creative industry, starting with the creative advertising subsector. They create and increase opportunities for individuals from ethnic backgrounds by educating on career entry into the industry and supporting current BAME individuals in the industry with career progression.
••
During our conversation we touched on the barriers to entry faced by BAME creatives. We Are Stripes caters to creatives from all ethnic backgrounds, but because this episode has been published during the UK’s Black History Month, we decided to focus on the challenges faced by Black individuals trying to navigate their way throughout the creative landscape.
Our conversation with the team was informative and thought provoking, but we have also tried to provide you with a balanced view on the topic. This is because We Are Stripes endeavours to not only highlight the issues faced by BAME creatives, but to provide creatives and organisations with the tools to address the issue.
So, without further adue please enjoy my sit-down with, We Are Stripes!!
