Have you ever wondered why you’re struggling with the things you’re struggling with? Mr and Mrs Super Christian over there seem to have it all together. Me? Well, you know …

It’s not uncommon for us to make comparisons like that, in great part because we’re completely ignorant of the struggles that others are facing. And yet, there are times when we ourselves have made our own lot worse simply by wandering away from God, wandering away from His Word, deluding ourselves that we know better, that our failings aren’t really hurting us; that they don’t have any consequences.

Yet that self-delusion is a tool in the hands of Satan to plunder our lives of the riches that God would bestow on us. And honestly, bluntly, there is only one way back:

Hebrews 4:12,13 Indeed, the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing until it divides soul from spirit, joints from marrow; it is able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. And before him no creature is hidden, but all are naked and laid bare to the eyes of the one to whom we must render an account. (NRSV)

Christian pastor. Jack Wellman. sums those two verses up like this: “When you examine the Word of God, the Word of God examines you.” And in so doing, God lays bare the self-delusion, the sin through which the devil’s plundering our lives, with the singular purpose of setting us free; of showing us His love; of drawing us closer to Him than we ever imagined possible.

Don’t neglect the Word of God. It is the power to change.

That’s His Word. Fresh … for you … today.
