The prevention of Lyme disease is an important topic right now. According to the CDC, Lyme disease has nearly doubled since 1991. Most people know of the bull’s-eye rash that can occur after a tick bite, but what other symptoms should you look for if bitten? What steps should you take once you encounter a tick bite?

In this episode, Seth is joined by Dr. Alexis Chesney to discuss the prevention and treatment of acute and chronic Lyme disease. Dr. Chesney is passionate about education and speaks on the topics of prevention, diagnosis and treatment of Lyme and tick-borne diseases at medical conferences and to the general public.

She is based in Vermont, where she has continued to work with a team of integrative practitioners at Sojourns Community Health Clinic, in Westminster. She also has a private practice as well.

In this episode, Seth and Dr. Chesney discuss:
  • Why Lyme disease is often missed through traditional diagnostic testing
  • How some patients see a lot of improvement in their symptoms but months later they digress
  • What are the acute symptoms of Lyme disease
  • How using permethrin and tick tubes can help prevent tick bites
  • Why using herbs can help help your immune system if you encounter a tick bite
  • How to properly remove a tick for testing
  • What are the best tests to use to diagnose Lyme disease
  • How chronic Lyme disease shows up in the body

Dr. Chesney’s health tip: Treat your shoes using permethrin when walking outside in tick infested areas
