Introduction:

If I'm Going to Tell the Truth: (James 5:12)

  1. I must understand Truth is the highest priority .
  2. I must stop Seaking Deceptively .

    Matthew 5:33-37

    Matthew 23:16-19

  3. I must speak Honestly .
  4. I must reckon with the Consequences for lying .

    Matthew 5:34-37

  5. I must do What is true .

Colossians 3:9 - Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices.

Ephesians 4:25 - Therefore, having put away falsehood, let each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor, for we are members one of another.

Matthew 7:12 - So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.

1 John 2:3-6 - And by this we know that we have come to know him, if we keep his commandments. Whoever says “I know him” but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him, but whoever keeps his word, in him truly the love of God is perfected. By this we may know that we are in him: whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked.
