Healing with Aloha Podcast - Host Deslynn Jaquias from Kaua'i, Hawai'i

Edwina Shaw is an Australian writer and editor of fiction, memoir and screenplays. Her first novel, Thrill Seekers (Ransom UK), based on her brother’s battle with schizophrenia, was shortlisted for the NSW Premier’s Award for New Writing. Since 2002, her pieces have been widely published in Australian and international journals, including Best Australian Stories. Her feature film screenplay M was awarded 2018 Talent Development funding from Screen Queensland and is under development. She is the commissioning and contributing editor of Bjelke Blues- Stories of Resistance and Repression in Bjelke-Petersen’s QLD1960s – 1980s (AndAlso Books 2019) and co-editor of Our Inside Voices (AndAlso Books 2020).

As a response to the COVID 19 epidemic, Edwina independently published her self-help title A Guide Through Grief, First Aid for your Heart and Soul to help those suffering great loss because of the pandemic. Her most recent release is as editor/ghost writer for Bryan Hartas’s memoir Hard As – My Life as an Orphan Boy. This project springs from her work running Creative Writing classes with Forgotten Australians, survivors of childhood institutional abuse. Edwina holds a Masters Degree in Creative Writing from the University of Queensland and has been teaching creative writing at the University of QLD and in the community since 2005. Edwina also runs Relax and Write Retreats for women that combine yoga and writing. She is passionate about the healing power of story.
