Have you ever thought of the Last Supper as Jesus' wedding banquet? Listen in as Bridgett and Janet discuss John the Baptist, Jesus' role at the Wedding at Cana, and the Last Supper as they discover Chapter 2 of Jesus the Bridegroom: The Greatest Love Story Ever Told.
Resources:

  • Jesus the Bridegroom: The Greatest Love Story Ever Told by Brant Pitre
  • Song of Songs
  • DEFINITION from the CCC
    • Covenant:
      1. A solemn agreement between human beings or between God and a human being involving mutual commitments or guarantees. The Bible refers to God’s covenants with Noah, Abraham, and Moses as leader of the chosen people, Israel. In the Old Testament or Covenant, God revealed his law through Moses and prepared his people for salvation through the prophets. In the New Testament or Covenant, Christ established a new and eternal covenant through his own sacrificial death and Resurrection. The Christian economy is the new and definitive Covenant which will never pass away, and no new public revelation is to be expected before the glorious manifestation of our Lord Jesus Christ. (56, 62, 66).
      2. Catechism of the Catholic Church: Convent References New and Old Testaments
  • Old and New Testament Covenant References from the CCC Index
  • Read
    • John 3: 28-30
    • Isaiah 25: 6-8

Baby Steps:

  • Isaiah 25: 6-8 - reflect upon what the perfect banquet will look like in Heaven
  • Read any of the Last Supper accounts in the Gospels, and reflect on this being Jesus' wedding banquet. Who's there? What are the feeling?
