Filmmakers love to tell stories. My guest this week was named one of the top 25 event filmmakers on the planet. His company, Lifestage Films, is most known for their destination weddings. Learn what it’s like to go behind the lens and how Matt gets to create long-lasting memories for brides, grooms, their families, and even businesses.

Matt studied International Business at Appalachian State and then went on work with a non-profit in Acapulco, Mexico. Matt’s job was to help raise money for an orphanage. He came up with an idea to make a video and that’s when his love for filmmaking was born. When he moved back to the states he started to think about what he could do to continue his passion. He soon realized a niche in the wedding industry that wasn’t being met. There were plenty of videographers that documented weddings but Matt wanted to do much more than that. He wanted to tell stories with audio and video.

Matt’s idea has grown into more than just weddings. He now gets to tell the story for businesses. Matt is a storyteller, not a commercial maker. His sister company, Harvest Filmworks, creates 2-3 minute brand identity films for corporations and businesses. Known for their aerial work with HD quadcopters, they had the pleasure of filming the largest home in the United States: The Biltmore Estate. One of my favorite and compelling films by Harvest Filmworks is with Hometown Hires, a company using a unique initiative to hire skilled people that just need a second chance.

Matt and his buddy Ryan created Studio Sherpas to appeal to entrepreneurs. A sherpa is a guide that helps others. Their webinars and online training aim to help business owners increase profits without losing their creativity. With amazing guests and relevant topics, the Studio Sherpas podcast will give you actionable items you can actually do in your business – and in your life – to help you get the most out of it all. Check out the podcast on iTunes and Spotify. Their webinars and online training can be done anytime and anywhere, in the comfort of your home, office, or even hotel room.
