Andrew Ogun took action during 2020, becoming the leader of BLM Gwent. He is a natural in the arts, demonstrating his voice through the power of music, rapping and the vision behind a creative clothing brand.
Andrew honours the opportunities afforded to him through the youth support service, Urban Circle based in Newport, and now gives back! to all the people including his mother, that have supported and invested in his ability to speak up against racial justice and affirmative action in the arts world.
His ability to create, is infectious provoking others into action, demonstrated in his new role at Arts Council Wales, who created a career opportunity seeing him as a representative of promoting greater diversity and inclusion in the arts sector. This exciting opening, enables Andrew to seek out new artists who may not otherwise sought funding from ACW.
Breaking down barriers comes naturally to Andrew, as his focused and determined attitude towards change will forever be recognised as a catalyst in the historical BLM movement in Wales.
