In today's Daily Fix:Naughty Dog's Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet doesn't have an official release date, but according to Bloomberg, the game may not make it out until 2027 at the earliest. That would make it seven years into the life of the PlayStation 5, and there's a good chance Sony will have already announced the PS6. Could Intergalactic be withheld from the current-gen PS5 and be a launch title for the PS6? And would that mean Naughty Dog has missed the PS5 generation entirely, outside of remakes and remasters? Speaking of release dates, CD Projekt has confirmed that the upcoming The Witcher 4 will not be released earlier by the end of 2026, which means another 2027 release date at the earliest. And finally, Nintendo has one last Direct aimed specifically at the Switch 1, a week before the big Switch 2 reveal in April. We may finally get the deep dive on Metroid Prime 4 that we've been waiting for.…

In today's Daily Fix:Assassin's Creed Shadows has been a hit with critics and with fans, boasting huge first- and second-day player concurrents in the millions. However, Ubisoft has not released sales figures (yet), and cautions that Shadows' sales performance shouldn't be compared to the last mainline AC game, Valhalla, which was released at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic when everyone was staying home and playing games anyway. Shadows instead should be compared to Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Origins, and Mirage, which was the most recent release before Shadows. In other news, two major games just received big updates—Monster Hunter Wilds is getting its first big patch, and Civilization 7 has a new update that addresses much-needed quality-of-life issues.…

In today's Daily Fix:Take-Two, the owners of the Grand Theft Auto franchise, have issued a take-down of another fan-made mod. YouTuber Dark Space has posted a video explaining what happened with his mod that put what he believed to be an accurate GTA 6 map into GTA 5. Dark Space argues that such moves hurt Take-Two's relationship with the community, the same community that makes its games popular in the first place. In other news, there's a not-zero percent chance that the popular online game Palworld makes its way to the Nintendo Switch 2, given the system is powerful enough to run it. That might be a little weird, considering developer Pocket Pair is involved in a lawsuit with Nintendo. And finally, MachineGames' Indiana Jones and the Great Circle finally has a PS5 release date.…
In today's Daily Fix:Microsoft may have accidentally leaked a mockup of how the Steam UI would look on Xbox. Via the Verge, the image was taken down soon after, but this adds more speculation to Microsoft's future Xbox plans and possible integration with Steam, Epic Games Store, and more. Xbox head Phil Spencer has already voiced support for letting gamers play their Steam library on Xbox consoles. In other news, Assassin's Creed Shadows is topping the charts after just one day since being released. According to Ubisoft, the game has seen 1 million players across all available platforms. Of course, sales data is not yet available, but the game is also riding high off strong critic and user reviews. And finally, co-op hit Split Fiction's success is catching the eye of Hollywood, and now a package is being put together to shop an adaptation to the big studios.…

In today's Daily Fix:Assassin's Creed Shadows has had its share of controversy during development, and Ubisoft is issuing a Day 1 patch to address one of them. Amid a bunch of other smaller changes, the Day 1 patch also makes it so players can't destroy the environment inside temples. Some objects inside temples can still be destroyed, provided they are generic objects found elsewhere in the game, but certain tables and racks can't be destroyed. In other news, Xbox's Phil Spencer wants to adapt more Microsoft IP to movies or shows. The Halo series failed to connect with fans, but Xbox has had success with the Fallout show, which may provide the blueprint for other live-action adaptations. And finally, the hardest level in Split Fiction has been beaten, and the first pair to do it won a one-of-a-kind real-life prize from Hazelight Studios.…
In today's Daily Fix:The latest sales figures from Circana show the PlayStation 5 outpacing sales of the PS4. That's great news for Sony, as this current generation was slow to take off. On the Xbox side, there's not a lot of good news, as Series X and Series S sales are pacing behind last gen's Xbox One. In other news, a new Palworld update is available that finally enables crossplatform play. And finally, two gaming industry vets revealed plans to create an MCU-style interconnected universe for Marvel games, even before the MCU was even a thing.…

The movie is out October 24th of this year. In other news, GameCub fans are getting excited over new Nintendo FCC filings. The documents show what appears to be a GameCube-style controller, likely for the Switch 2. This could mean GameCube games coming to the Switch, possibly for the Nintendo Switch Online service. In today's Daily Fix:God of War is celebrating its 20th anniversary with free in-game content, called the Dark Odyssey collection, and IRL merch (that's not free). The update will be available March 20th for PlayStation and PC, while real-life events and merch will be available starting March 15th. In other news, the Knights of the Old Republic remake at Saber Interactive is apparently still alive and kicking, despite the devs not having shown anything from the game outside of the announcement teaser three years ago. We'll believe it when we see it, Saber. And finally, Pokémon Legends: Z-A has been rated E10+, a technically more mature rating than the usual E for Everyone rating Pokémon games usually get. 1 Ubisoft Shareholder Threatens Protest After Alleged IP Talks with Microsoft, Others - IGN Daily Fix
In today's Daily Fix:A minority shareholder in Ubisoft is planning a protest against the company, claiming it's "horribly mismanaged." The shareholder alleges that Ubisoft has not been transparent and is "hiding information," including partnerships with the Savvy Group, and holding talks with Microsoft, EA, and others regarding possibly selling Ubisoft IP (maybe that's the only way we'll get a new Splinter Cell). In other news, EA's skate. is in closed alpha testing, but that isn't stopping them from selling microtransactions. EA claims this is to test the store feature to make sure it all works at launch. Mmm hmm. Any purchases made during this testing period will basically be converted back into in-game currency at launch. And speaking of EA, in positive news, Hazelight Studios' co-op Split Fiction not only is getting rave reviews, but sales as well. The game has sold 1 million copies in just 48 hours.…

In today's Daily Fix:A report from Windows Central details Microsoft's next-gen Xbox plans, and they include not only a new console, but two handhelds, one of which is due later this year. Microsoft has yet to comment on the report, but some of the details do line up with what Xbox's Phil Spencer said at IGN Live last year, that the company won't have its own handheld ready for at least a couple of years. In other news, Naughty Dog's Neil Druckmann spoke with filmmaker Alex Garland about the upcoming sci-fi game Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, and how religion plays a big role in the game's story. In today's Daily Fix:MachineGames' hit Indiana Jones adventure for Xbox could be making its PS5 debut very soon. The ESRB recently rated the PS5 port, suggesting that the release date could be around the corner. This tracks with the previous release window of Spring 2025 (and it's now Spring). The game was a huge hit for Xbox, racking up more than 4 million players thanks to a Day One Game Pass release. In related news, Forza Horizon 5 is dropping for PS5 soon, and it will require not only a PSN account, but a Microsoft account, as well. Yes, that's technically two logins you'll need to play the game. Some gamers are concerned that this kills future game preservation for the title, since any issues with one service could affect the game's playability (i.e. you lose access to your Microsoft account for any reason, and you won't be able to play the game at all). And finally, Happy MAR10 Day! It's unofficially a Nintendo holiday every March 10th, and to celebrate this year's, LEGO has dropped a new Mario Kart LEGO set.…

In today's Daily Fix:Grand Theft Auto 5's latest edition, an "Enhanced" port for PC, is getting slammed in its Steam reviews. Although it's free, the game requires a fresh install, and you need to port your saves and account over from the old legacy version. Plus, certain text communication features are missing, and there's of course bugs. Guess we get a new, but worse, GTA 5 before we get GTA 6, huh? In other news, Sony is starting a rental program for PS5 in the UK. The program will let gamers lease PS5 hardware, or other Sony hardware like the PlayStation Portal, for a fee. While this could be fine for people just wanting to try out the console before comitting, this isn't a rent-to-own or lease-to-own program, which could make it more expensive for prospective PS5 buyers. And finally, a Cheeto sold at auction for around $88,000 USD. But not just any Cheeto, a flamin' hot one that looks like everyone's favorite firebreathing Pokémon.…

In today's Daily Fix:The popular communications service Discord could become a publicly traded company in the future. The service has proven a hit with gamers and content creators, who use it for voice chat and group messaging, and so far it's been relatively devoid of third-party ads. But gamers are now worried that Discord going IPO could bring with it a deluge of ads. In other news, beta testers in the Xbox Insider program are urged caution when trying out the latest Xbox update. Users are reporting their profiles being removed from their consoles after the update. In today's Daily Fix: HBO's The Last of Us Season 2 will be dropping soon, but fans of the franchise hoping for a Part 3 of the game might be waiting a long, long time. Like forever. Naughty Dog's Neil Druckmann recently told Variety that a Part 3 may never happen. However, Part 2's TV adaptation will go on for at least two seasons, so fans have that to look forward to. In other news, Marvel 1943's Black Panther recently let slip the game's tentative release window: Christmas 2025. While an official release date hasn't been given, a holiday launch doesn't seem too unreasonable. And finally, Nintendo just won another major lawsuit, this time against counterfeit Amiibo sellers. Nintendo and Amazon teamed up to take down sellers peddling Amiibo cards and other devices that mimic Amiibo functionality. In other news, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 Remastered is now a thing. The collection was announced today with a July 11 release date. Noire and its VR spinoff, and helped fix Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy—The Definitive Edition after its underwhelming launch. No word yet on how this impacts GTA 6, if at all. In other news, blurry screenshots have emerged from a canceled Twisted Metal project. The game was apparently an online title that had traditional vehicular combat mixed with battle royale and on-foot elements. And finally, Monster Hunter Wilds' cheese naan cutscene is sending players on an IRL foodie hunt for actual cheese naan. In today's Daily Fix:InZOI, the new life sim aiming to take a piece of The Sims' pie, will hit early access on March 28th. No word yet on an official console release date. It's the seventh most-played game on Steam based on concurrents, with around 1 million players hunting monsters at the same time. It's so popular that Palworld developer Pocket Pair is giving the day off to employees so they could play the game. And finally, the PlayStation VR 2 is getting a permanent price cut. The VR attachment for PS5 was met with criticism back in 2023 for its high price tag, but if you're on the fence about it, it's now $399, down from $549. In today's Daily Fix:Sony has revealed the lineup of new games coming to PlayStation Plus in March. Headlining the list is Dragon Age: The Veilguard, which is a fairly new game, having dropped just a few months ago. The fourth Dragon Age game failed to hit EA's sales goals, so putting the game on PS Plus so soon is likely an attempt at recouping some cash. In other news, BioWare's co-founder put Microsoft on blast for some bad advice during the original Xbox era. It was Microsoft's suggestion that cult favorite RPG Jade Empire be released for the OG Xbox right at the end of its life, just a few months shy of the Xbox 360's debut. Dr. Greg Zeschuk is convinced Jade Empire could've been a hit for BioWare if the game was held for newer hardware. The three studios being closed or Monolith (who also developed the Shadow of Mordor games), Player First Games, and WB San Diego. In other news, Microsoft dropped a new teaser for the next Fable game, and the unfortunate news that the game is delayed until sometime in 2026. In other news, Spider-Man voice actor, Yuri Lowenthal, has confirmed Peter Parker will be in the third Insomniac Spider-Man game. In what capacity, he didn't say, but he teased that Parker won't just be sitting on a couch and letting Miles have all the fun. And finally, the trade war between the U.S. and China could be affecting gaming hardware, and Sony is preparing for just such a situation. According to the Take-Two financial earnings call that took place today, at the time of this recording, the parent company is confident that GTA 6 will hit its release date of Fall 2025. So that means rumors of a delay are just that: rumors. At least as of right now. But IGN spoke with Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick just before the financial report, and he said; “Look, there's always a risk of slippage and I think as soon as you say words like absolutely, you jinx things. So we feel really good about it." We of course probed a bit more, asking him for an update on the development of #GTA6 and how things are looking over at Rockstar Games, to which he responded: “I think the game is eagerly anticipated both internally and externally. We know that Rockstar seeks perfection. I never claim success before it occurs. I'm fond of saying arrogance is the enemy of continued success, so we're all running scared and looking over our shoulders and we know that the competition is not asleep. Our whole organization is super excited." The competition is definitely not asleep, just merely waiting for Rockstar to make a move so that they can get out of the way of one of the most anticipated games of the year. The CEO of EA recently said he was willing to delay the next Battlefield to the next fiscal year just to avoid #GrandTheftAuto6.…

IN other news, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 50-series cards are sold out everwhere, but gamers with deep pockets can find them on eBay...for three times the price. Some of the 5090 cards are going for as much as $6,000, way up from the MSRP of $2K. And finally, the PlayStation anniversary themes for the PS5 are going away, but maybe temporarily. Sony is looking to keep them on your system for good if you want them, and maybe this will open up the path for more custom themes like on the PS3 and PS4.…

In today's Daily Fix:A new coming to Grand Theft Auto 5 hopes to give gamers a taste of Grand Theft Auto 6. YouTuber Dark Space is using GTA 5 assets to bring GTA 6's map (or at least what Rockstar has shown of it) to life ahead of the actual release of GTA 6. GTA publisher Take-Two has been very litigious regarding GTA mods, so who knows how long this project will last. In other news, the update for Baldur's Gate 3 that accidentally went live earlier this week is now ready for testing. BG3 fans can sign up for the stress test at Larian's website. There's also an update to Pokémon Home: gamers who finish their pokédexes are getting Shiny Pokémon. And of course, our thoughts are with the LA fire victims. In today's Daily Fix:Take-Two has issued another takedown order on a Grand Theft Auto mod. This time, the target is a mod for GTA 4 that brings GTA: Vice City into the game. The modders have released the game anyway, and now without the need for a legitimate copy of GTA 4. In other news, Baldur's Gate 3's new Patch 8 accidentally dropped before developer Larian was ready. The new patch hasn't been stress-tested yet, and Larian isn't sure how it went live for PS5. And finally, the Nvidia RTX 5090 and 5080 cards will be on sale very soon, and gamers and tech enthusiasts are already camping out for one. Retailer Micro Center has issued a warning to NOT do that, as the January weather can be very cold.…
In today's Daily Fix:Microsoft and Bethesda dropped some new details on the upcoming Doom: The Dark Ages yesterday, but one feature from the previous two games seems to be missing: multiplayer. The developers at id did confirm that the game only has a single-player campaign, only because they wanted to "go all-in on the campaign." Sorry, no ripping and tearing with friends, but you get to pilot a giant mech and ride a dragon, so that's a pretty good trade-off. In other news, Ninja Gaiden 2 Black just surprise-dropped onto consoles and PC yesterday, but if you're holding off because you want a physical copy, you're in luck. Odd thing is that it's only for PS5, which is weird because the game was announced at an Xbox event and is now available on Game Pass. And finally, in entertainment news, director Robert Eggers has a couple of projects lined up after finding success with his take on Nosferatu. Eggers will reportedly helm a sequel to Labyrinth, the 80s dark fantasy film starring the late David Bowie.…

In today's Daily Fix:A technical director for Capcom has created a program that uses generative AI to create "ideas." No, it's not exactly what you think; in this case, Capcom wants to use Ai to help create objects for game works, such as televisions, chairs, etc. Thousands of objects potentially need to be created for any given game, and each one would need to go through its own approval process, and Capcom wants to streamline that instead of having someone make each by hand. Game design, character design, story, and other elements would still be left in the hands of a real human. In other news, the January Xbox Developer Direct revealed a brand new Ninja Gaiden and a remaster of an old one. Ninja Gaiden 4 is due sometime this year, while the remake Ninja Gaiden Black 2 is available right now. And finally, Final Fantasy 7 Remake part 3 finally has a story, and Square Enix confirmed the game will NOT be PlayStation-exclusive...eventually.…

In today's Daily Fix:Former Nintendo of America president, Reggie Fils-Aimé, had high praise for Sony's Astro Bot. At the New York Game Awards, Fils-Aimé said Astro Bot 'almost outdid Nintendo' at making a fun 3D platformer for all ages. Astro Bot won Game of the year at the event, as well as taking home Game of the Year at The Game Awards in December. In today's Daily Fix:Microsoft has revealed the next wave of games coming to Xbox Game Pass, and there's a little something for everyone. Sniper Elite: Resistance, Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders, Gigantic: Rampage Edition, Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess (now on Game Pass Standard), and more are hitting the service. In other news, Marvel Snap is back online after it was temporarily Thanos-snapped out of existence as part of the Tiktok ban. Developer Second Dinner will be working to find a new publisher to avoid any disruptions like this in the future. And finally, Sony's Bend Studio is still working on stuff even after their latest project has been canned. Bend Studio's new game was to be a live-service multiplayer title, but as part of Sony's recent purge of live-service games that aren't Helldivers, Bend's game was cancelled.…

In today's Daily Fix:Sony has canceled a couple more games, both of which were live service titles. One of them was a God of War multiplayer game, and the other was an unannounced game from Bluepoint. Looks like Sony could be scaling back their live service push in the wake of the colossal failure of Concord. In other news, the devs behind Hollow Knight: Silksong potentially teased...something. A cryptic tweet involving a dessert profile picture have lead some to believe a Silksong announcement is coming with Nintendo's big Switch 2 Direct in April. And finally there's a new Steam Deck, only you can't buy it and it would probably be bad to play games on. To celebrate Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's Steam Deck verification, Square Enix showed off a chocobo-themed Steam Deck complete with chocobo fur. Not the best way to play a handheld that can get very without the extra sweater.…
In today's Daily Fix:It's finally here, the announcement we've all been waiting for: the Nintendo Switch 2 is real...and that's about all we know for sure. A trailer for the new console didn't have anything in the way of specs, price, or release date, but did confirm a few things: the Joy-Con will be magnetic and can be used like a mouse, it will have two USB-C ports, and Switch 1 cartridges will fit in the system. Want to try it for yourself? We have details on a preview event Nintendo will hold later this year in select cities. In related news, the new Switch 2 trailer did show off what looks like a new Mario Kart, and we have a few details on that. New additions include God of War: Ragnarök, Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, Atlas Fallen: Reign of Sand, and more. Retro titles Medieval 2 and Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings (hopefully this can hold PS5 players over until the excellent The Great Circle arrives). In other news, Microsoft has been hit with even more layoffs across several divisions including gaming. The number of affected staff is currently unknown. And finally, the last content update for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is out, adding new weapons and cosmetics and a true ending to the game. In today's Daily Fix:Details of the unannounced The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion remake may have been accidentally revealed. A former employee at game studio Virtuos allegedly revealed its existence, which seems to confirm an earlier leak that happened during the FTC v Microsoft trial. The game will be made using Unreal Engine 5, and will feature changes to some of the combat, especially blocking. In related news, 'Nate the Hate,' the Youtuber who recently reported on the Nintendo Switch 2 reveal date, is also claiming that Halo: The Master Chief Collection will be coming to PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2 this year. In today's Daily Fix:Nintendo is finally responding to all the recent leaks of the Nintendo Switch 2. This was likely brought on by the recent reveal of a mock-up of the Switch 2 at CES in Las Vegas by the accessory company, Genki. According to Nintendo, any leak is unofficial and not from reliable sources, but with so many details that seem to corroborate one another, we can't help but think that maybe—MAYBE—there's some truth to at least a few of these leaks. But only Nintendo can verify anything, and they've already said an announcement will be coming sometime this year. In other news, Marvel Rivals just got an update that not only added the Fantastic Four, but took away mod support. PC players will no longer be able to make Spider-Man look like Goku or use any other unapproved visual changes.…

In today's Daily Fix:Assassin's Creed Shadows has been hit with another setback. Ubisoft has announced a new release date of March 20, 2025, roughly a month later than the previous release date of February 14, which itself was delayed from the original release date of November 12, 2024. Ubisoft explained that this was to give the game more time for polish and to implement feedback from the past three months. In other news, Nintendo has announced a new handheld: a LEGO Gameboy. This is just the latest in a deluge of recent leaks surrounding the Switch 2, so hopefully Nintendo makes an official announcement soon. In today's Daily Fix:News of a new Nintendo patent has fueled more speculation about the upcoming—but not officially announced—Switch 2. The patent suggests the Switch 2 will use some kind of AI-powered image upscaling (probably similar to NVIDIA DLSS), which falls in line with leaks about the system's specs. The Switch 2 supposedly will output games at 4K in docked mode, and upscaling the images from a lower resolution to 4K will help save on system horsepower. In other news, Call of Duty players are finally learning what their SBMM rank is, thanks to a workaround involving requesting personal data from Activision. But the question now is, what will you do once you learn what your SBMM ranking is? And finally, Atari has re-revealed a handheld that will likely play retro Atari games. In today's Daily Fix:While gamers around the world (im)patiently wait for Rockstar to drop another GTA 6 trailer on us, analysts are already predicting a massive payday for Rockstar and its parent company, Take-Two. Grand Theft Auto 6 could rake in billions in just its first year on sale, with some analysts predicting $3 billion, outpacing GTA 5's sales. If you can't wait to drop $70 on GTA 6, maybe these (sort of) free PS Plus games can hold you over. January's offerings include The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered, and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.
