Tania Naranjo is a Chilean/Swedish singer, pianist and composer who migrated from Chile during the reign of Pinochet to Sweden at age 17, already an accomplished singer and concert pianist and has since cemented herself as a musical force to be reckoned with. Her style is a combination of jazz, South American folk music, tango nuevo and world music which is evident on her album La industria del miedo. She also plays in Duo Naranjo Weurlander. She has played with symphony orchestras, done film scores and even performed for the president of Chile. Right now she's been doing a project playing the songs of Violeta Parra with Arja Saijonmaa. We're talking about all this and more, interspersed with some examples from her album.
