Join us as our host, Carol McDaniel, sits down with guest Kelly Tyrrell, our board certified music therapist and certified grief counselor at All Children’s Hospital Johns Hopkins Medicine. Kelly has been a Music Therapist for over four years. Before joining All Children's, she studied at Appalachian State University. She worked in a variety of populations, including hospice and palliative care, kids with autism and intellectual disabilities, adults with developmental delays, adults with traumatic brain injuries and older adults with dementia. Kelly has worked at All Children’s for three years and has expanded the program at the hospital to include services in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). She is certified in NICU Music Therapy. She also plays the guitar, piano and sings, amongst other various instruments required for therapy. Kelly works with clients of all ages, utilizing interventions such as songwriting, singing, music making and relaxation to address non-musical goals such as anxiety, poor coping, agitation and end-of-life support. Kelly lives in St. Petersburg, Florida and enjoys many warm-weather activities the Sunshine State has to offer, including sitting in the park and watching the dolphins swim along the sea wall.
