Join us as our host, Carol McDaniel, sits down with guest Rachel Dawkins, MD, our medical director and director of Clinical Experiences for Physicians in Training at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. Originally from the St. Petersburg/ Clearwater area, Dr. Dawkins completed undergraduate and medical school at the University of Miami. She moved to New Orleans for residency at Louisiana State University, where she also completed a year as chief resident. As a faculty member at LSU, Dr. Dawkins spent six years as an associate program director for the pediatric residency program. Dr. Dawkins is immediate past chair of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Section on Young Physicians. Her research and interests are in advocacy, resident education and childhood obesity. On today's show, Dr. Dawkins discusses back-to-school health and safety tips and will cover many topics such as bullys, overweight backpacks, over scheduling your kids, the Zika virus, nutrition and more. Whether entering kindergarten or high school, research shows it's beneficial to practice a good health and safety routine.
