Barrie Risman is widely regarded as one of Canada’s most highly skilled yoga educators, teacher–trainers and mentors. She conveys the essence of the wisdom teachings of yoga with exceptional clarity, insight, and relevance to students of all levels and from all walks of life.

Yoga classes can be intimidating. It is ok to admit it.

Barrie shares her experience of her immersion into the practice of yoga. From 1997-2003, Barrie served as a full-time staff member for the SYDA Foundation in India and the US, immersed in the study and practice of all the traditional yogic disciplines.

Can yoga increase your sex drive?

Spiritual Yoga practices vs Physical Yoga practices or can you do both?

How do you get past the physical challenges if that is what is blocking you?

What is the one important thing to do before you begin a yoga class?

The word YOGA refers to a state of union between body, breath and mind but it also refers to everything we do to connect to that state.

What exactly is HOT yoga?

The importance of teaching mindfulness in schools.

Progress in yoga is to respond to the same situation in a different way.

Everything we do in yoga is a microcosm for life. A field for experimenting for how we live our lives.

Takeaway:

~ You only need to have 2 things to start a yoga practice. A yoga mat and the willingness to learn

~ You don’t have to be interested in spirituality at all to get the benefits of yoga

~Before you start a yoga class give yourself an opportunity to check in with yourself. Allow yourself to be present

~ Breathe into your challenges. It builds the muscle to do that in all areas of your life
