Many women believe that they'll be happy once they reach their goal weight. However, this is rarely the case. In fact, research shows that people who lose weight often experience a decrease in self-esteem and an increase in anxiety and depression.

This is because focusing on weight loss as a way to achieve happiness is a distraction from the real work that needs to be done: healing from negative body image.
