Name: Jay Walker

Email: JayWalker31303@gmail.com

My name is Jay Walker and I am 20 years old from Kansas City. When I was 15 years old I was hospitalized for G.I. symptoms that escalated into rapid swelling from all mucous membranes. The swelling got so severe that it cut off all circulation to my optic nerves rendering me completely and irreversibly blind in under four hours. I have attended the mayo clinic twice, the national institutes of health undiagnosed disease center once and every local physician known to man. After extensive genetic testing they believe me to be patient zero for a new auto inflammatory disease. Since then, I have worked to get my life back on track by working extraordinarily hard. I learned braille under a year, three different types of voiceover technology in the same amount of time, and within two years of going blind I was attending college. After word of my random and unexplained blindness reach the public eye, I was in the media spotlight for well over two years and did interviews with the New York Times, people magazine, the Washington Post, the Kansas City star, the daily Mail, local and national news channels, as well as YouTube shorts and even Dr. Oz. Today, I have written three books in the process of publication, started my own podcast, my own blog, and will be beginning the search for masters’ programs here shortly. My goal in life is to create a network of blind people and give them opportunities and Services they never knew they needed. I want blind people to be able to access the media that I put out and learn something that will help improve their daily living and or mental well-being
