Conversation with BJ Putnam and his new release, “More and More”
We were intentional from the beginning to have songs, not only that people want to sing, but that also connect with the local church.
Strong focus on “Vertical Worship”
Worship Pastor at Church for the Nations – Phoenix, AZ for 14 years
Change your “GOT TO” to a “GET TO”!
Songwriting for this project:
- Vertical
- Singable
- Great Hooks
“Just because they (songs) didn’t make the cut on this CD, doesn’t they are bad songs; they just might be for a different project.”
Songwriting is a process:
- The more you write, the better you get.
- You learn for better ways to communicate what is in your heart.
- It’s easy to “sell out” for a line that everybody uses…You have to be diligent and fight for something that’s good!
Rehearsals:
- Excellence
- Community
- Connect with your team
Ezekiel 46 – When we encounter the presence of God, we need to leave differently than we came.
Things to remember:
- We are serving our house.
- Have a heart for your house!
- Don’t approach your assignment in ministry as a stepping stone to the next, better thing.
- Be faithful where you are and help grow the house!
