Today on the Leading with Heart podcast I am interviewing Dr. Kati McNamara. Dr. McNamara is a social worker, behavior change expert, educator, and researcher in the U.S. Air Force. She currently serves as the Director of Behavioral Medicine and Uniformed Services University Assistant Professor in the Family Medicine Residency Clinic for the 99th Medical Group, Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada. In this episode, she and I are having a frank discussion on mental health in the military.
Dr. Kati McNamara shares her “hot takes” on mental health care in the military, as well as tips to finding a therapist that is going to provide the specific type of care that you need. We discuss some of the stigma surrounding mental health in the military and the importance of not feeling shame or stigma around mental health conditions.
Dr. McNamara also provides us with some simple and easy ways to soothe our nervous system to lead a calmer, happier, and all around more joyful life.
