Imagine working closely with individuals whose actions determine whether you live or die. Or you frequently work long hours in high-stress, high-paced environments, sometimes in isolated locations far away from friends and family. Maybe you have had to miss special occasions, your child's memorable first, or you have had to work during the holidays. Many spend years in careers like this, and their experience shapes who they become. These individuals, Veterans, are those who have served in the United States military.

Individuals transitioning from the military can lose a part of themselves. According to the 2021 census, only 6.4% of the nation's adult population has served in the military. This creates a unique population that shares a common bond. However, many in society do not understand this experience, which makes it difficult for Veterans to transition back into society. This includes returning to what some would call a normal civilian life, obtaining a job, navigating family dynamics, and even attending college.
In this episode, Corporate Coach for Veterans Ahmad Burse joins us to discuss the Veteran transition. We talk about:

  • The first 90 days after separating
  • Challenges transitioning service members have
  • What it really means to say, "Thank you for your service,"
  • Do all Veterans have some trauma they need to deal with
  • Three things are Veterans need to have
  • Key things employers need to consider when hiring or recruiting Veterans
  • Advice for those working side by side with Veterans and more...

Tune in as we dive into Veterans' challenges when transitioning from the military, starting a new career, and how employers can create an inclusive environment that welcomes those who have served our country.
