Supporting Kids In Crisis ~ Guest, Jessica Hubbard
Let's Talk Wellness - with Host, Mara James
It’s no secret that there are many children experiencing difficulties and even danger, at home. Thankfully, there are some amazing people and organizations offering help and hope in what can seem like a hopeless situation. This week, Mara welcomes Jessica Hubbard for a conversation about her work with Casa Youth Shelter, and her passion for supporting kids to have a safe place to heal and get help.
In January of 2023, Jessica Hubbard was appointed the new CEO of Casa Youth Shelter, where she is focused on growing the nonprofit's vision to serve more individuals with critical counseling services, not just residential care.
Jessica has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida, a Master’s degree from Nova Southeastern University in education administration, and a law degree from Western State College of Law.
Prior to joining the nonprofit industry, Jessica had an established career in higher education compliance and school administration, as well as eight years of classroom teaching experience in the public school system. She spent the past five and a half years as the Chief Program Officer at Girls Inc. of Orange County before joining CYS this year.
As Jessica shares about Casa Youth Shelter, "Not every youth in crisis is looking for a shelter, but every youth in crisis can benefit from counseling. I understand firsthand the importance of having a place where you can be unburdened and begin to heal from trauma. Casa is that place.”
