Episode 24 - 'Van Halen' by Van Halen (1978)
‘Eruption’
As far as debut albums go, very few come close to achieving what Van Halen’s did in 1978. Before the glitz of Glam Rock and the glamour of Hair Metal, came this 4 piece outfit who innovated and pioneered the kind of Rock/Metal music we would so casually associate with the 80s.
Having had a huge influence on bands like Whitesnake, Ratt, Guns N Roses, Poison and many others, ‘Van Halen’ showed the world how to combine heavy music, raw execution and raucous guitar tones with tight harmonies, polished production and sweet melodies to create an album that is critically and historically associated with the inception of Glam Rock and Hair Metal.

Laz & Felipe dive into the album and discuss all the fantastic aspects of this short, but sweet, EP!
