US Navy veteran Dennis Medbury began writing as a device to help him sleep. After 14 years of service he had developed PTSD which led to insomnia. Rather than take medication he would start thinking up a story to help him sleep, changing characters and plots when he didn't like how they were going. Medbury describes it as The Secrets of the Runestones series is a product of me taking a debilitating condition and turning it into something positive. The characters are all dear to my heart. Writing fantasy involves a great deal of thought and research. Trade routes, monetary systems, government and religions are just some of the things you need to think about before you get to the fun stuff like swords and magic. I believe I put in the effort, and created a story that anyone can enjoy. We are happy to welcome him to the genie bottle!
