Understanding Empathy And How We Can Practice It Daily with Cognitive Neuroscientist Dr. Julie Fratantoni
Manage episode 300827544 series 2937595
#14: Dr. Julie Frantantoni is a Cognitive Neuroscientist at the Center for BrainHealth, part of the University of Texas at Dallas. Her job is to learn all about the brain mechanisms that underlie human behavior, specifically the thinking, planning, problem solving and decision making of the brain. Much of Dr. Julie’s day to day is conducting research, a lot of which has revolved around the study of empathy, our favorite word at Mayfair! You can imagine my excitement for this conversation.
Today, Julie and I talk about:
- The sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems
- Brain health vs. mental health
- How living in a digital age affects our mental health
- Tangible ways we can practice empathy
- Our paths are not always linear
“In order to take on different perspectives, you have to interact with people that are different from you.” - Dr. Julie Fratantoni #MAYFAIRWORLD
