In this episode of Mid-Life Opportunity, Doc Conor Hogan Ph.D. interviews Rob Hodes, an autistic middle-aged man from New York. When he was learning to speak during childhood, Rob could only say vowels (no consonants), yet now he is a coach helping others with autism. Despite being bullied incessantly because of his stuttering, Hodes did not let this affect him in the long term. It was not until 2005 that Rob was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome/High Functioning Autism, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, and many years were lost where he could not form or keep good relationships until he learned the reasons why he was different. Now Rob's personal mission statement is to inspire individuals on the Autism Spectrum to defy societal labeling!
