On this week's episode of Millennial's and Money, we are joined by our first Baby Boomer guest, New York Times bestselling Author, Financial Expert, and long-standing guest on the Oprah show Neale Godfrey shares her Money Story. Neal grew up in a much different time than us as Millennial's and she shares what it was like for a woman beginning a career in finance in the 1980s. She got her foot in the door as an executive with Chase Manhattan bank in 1982 where she was paid 40% less than the men in her same position were paid based on nothing other than her being a woman. After putting together the largest
merger in the history of the United States she hit the glass ceiling at Chase and became the president of The First Woman's Bank, where she saw how dis-empowered women were at handling their own money. Seeing the need to educate children and women on money and not finding a resource she went out on her own and wrote a book “The Kids Money Book”. She went on to write the book “Money doesn't grow trees” and Oprah picked the book up and “Looooovveddd it” thanks to Oprah “Money Doesn't Grow On
Trees” went on to sell millions of copies and became number one on the New York Times bestseller list. Today Neale still has the heart to educate and serve women and children around the world in 2021. Enjoy the show.
