On this episode of the podcast we invited David Dann. Dann is a producer/DJ and the founder of LA based independent record company, Mind of a Genius, focuses on nurturing talent first and foremost. That approach has driven the label’s continued success since 2013. Over a billion streams later - the label has architected a platform to foster artistic development, and it ignited the careers of Gallant, Klangstof, ZHU, THEY., Kwaye, and more. Among many milestones, ZHU’s “Faded” notched the label’s first 2014 GRAMMY® Award nod in the category of “Best Dance Recording” and Gallant’s 2016 full-length debut album "Ology" earned a nomination for “Best Urban Contemporary Album,” while the alternative Amsterdam based maverick and acclaimed Dutch-Norwegian band Klangstof both turned heads as Coachella's first dutch band to play. Meanwhile, Hypebeast, Complex, and Revolt touted MOAG as a true tastemaker in extensive features as he simultaneously orchestrated a high-profile distribution deal with Warner Bros. Records for portion of the company.
