Steve Preston is the CEO of Goodwill Industries. Though Goodwill is known for big stores where people can donate clothes and buy them secondhand, those stores are just the first level of what Goodwill Industries are about. Those stores fund an international organization that provides job training, employment placement services and other community-based programs for people who face barriers in their employment. Steve joins Jay to discuss the ways Goodwill Industries support veterans and individuals who lack job experience, an education, or face employment challenges, such as those people who are formerly incarcerated. 1922 startete das Radio in der Schweiz, 1924 kam mit Radio Zürich ein erster Sender in der Deutschschweiz dazu. Hundert Jahre später könnte man glauben, der Rundfunk sei am Ende – dabei hat die SRG und weitere Sender wie Radio Stadtfilter bloss aufgehört, ihre Programme via UKW zu verbreiten. Doch die Aufruhr ist noch immer gross. Wir kommen nicht umhin, uns zu fragen: Ist es Liebe zu einer analogen Technologie? Oder bloss der Unwille, sich mit den Veränderungen abzufinden, die uns zur Anschaffung eines neuen Empfangsgerätes nötigen? Uns scheint die Sache klar: Bei der Digitalisierung des Rundfunks ist einiges schiefgelaufen – trotzdem ist DAB besser als sein Ruf. Und weil wir nicht in dieser Diskussion stecken bleiben wollen, fragen wir uns, wie das Radio der Zukunft aussehen könnte: Ist es der gleiche alte Dudelfunk, dessen höchstes Ziel es ist, niemand unter den Zuhörerinnen und Zuhörern zu verschrecken? Oder braucht es eine Weiterentwicklung, damit wir nicht beim «Radio Gaga» enden?
