“Loving yourself starts with liking yourself, which starts with respecting yourself, which starts with thinking of yourself in positive ways.”
It's just one thought in one small sentence but, it's a really big topic that so often is pushed to the side, swept under the rug so to speak...we're either too busy or too preoccupied with life and issues that we deem more demanding, more valuable or more urgent ...So, to consider ourselves and the way we feel or what we need can very often seem like an inconvenience; it can even seem unnecessary because we've mastered the art of disguise.
To give ourselves time and attention can sometimes create a feeling of guilt and shame because the appearance of having it all together is what we're about.
There's a lot of focus today on the topic of self love but who wants to admit that they're one of those that needs to take time for themselves? Does it show weakness? And, what will others think if you were to admit that you may need to 'work' on yourself?
First of all, it's not work... it's honor. Honor yourself! I'm sure you've heard the phrase, to thine own self be true.
An here's the thing....“If you aren’t good at loving yourself, you will have a difficult time loving anyone, because you’ll resent the time and energy you give another person that you aren’t even giving to yourself.”
