A good shepherd will lead their flock to green pastures and still waters. He’ll lead them with his staff making sure to protect them on their journey. His rod is to protect them against the things that might want to harm his flock. He will give his life for his flock, whatever it takes. The flock knows their shepherd’s voice and will not follow a stranger’s voice. Pinned-up sheep will flee from a stranger once they hear or smell them. The important part is that the shepherd knows his flock.

Jesus knows His flock and is not confused. In the end, He will separate the sheep from the goats. He will tell the goats to depart from Him because He never knew them. Are you a part of His flock? Does God know you by name?
