If you’ve never heard of mistletoe therapy, well, you are not alone. Though it’s not a widely known therapy in the United States, this has been used in Europe for over 100 years, to not only kill cancer cells, but to also help cancer patients deal with some of the adverse effects of both cancer and cancer treatment.

In this episode, I’m joined by Ivelisse Page, executive director and co-founder of the nonprofit organization Believe Big, which helps cancer patients face, fight, and overcome cancer. Diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer at the young age of 37, Ivelisse has been busy doing so much with Believe Big, getting mistletoe therapy in the hands of anyone facing cancer. Currently, they offer grants to cancer patients to pursue and release the financial burden that thousands of families have to gain access to this care that's not typically covered by insurance. They're also working with Johns Hopkins to do a four-phase study on mistletoe therapy.

Whether cancer is a first-hand experience of yours or you know of other family members and friends who have to deal with cancer, hopefully, this episode will shed light on mistletoe therapy as an affordable and effective treatment.

In this episode, you will hear:

  • Ivelisse’s story of cancer diagnosis
  • Getting individualized care instead of standardized care
  • How mistletoe therapy is used in the realm of integrative medicine
  • The effect of mistletoe therapy on the patients who are on it
  • The basics of mistletoe therapy: mechanism, dose, and cost
  • The future of mistletoe therapy in the U.S.
