Stephanie Veldman and Arjan van Dijk of Brill Publishing reveal the economic mechanisms and strategic thinking behind their work in open access. A 340-year-old publishing house with strong credentials in the Humanities and Social Sciences in particular, it publishes some 1,400 academic books and more than 300 peer-reviewed journals annually.
