In this new episode of Over/Under Movies, where we pick apart one overrated and one underrated film, we dive into the criminal underbelly of 70s Harlem. And who better to do that than three film critics from the Pacific Northwest? First off, we talk about 1972's Across 110th Street, which grittily depicts the investigation of a robbery during a 24-hour period. Is it a simple Blaxploitation film the way its reputation suggests, or is there something deep underneath? Then, we find ourselves in an existential conversation about where Ridley Scott's unique talent has gone after 2000s Gladiator, as his forced crime epic American Gangster proves to be an uneven and bland experience. How forgettable is it? One of our critics watched it three times, and he still can't care to remember what happens in it.
