There is profound wisdom in the simple messaging of Nike, “Just Do It.” Why does that phrase resonate with so many people? What has Nike tapped into with their message that people feel it deep down on a soul level?

In many ways, men and women all over our country are consciously and subconsciously looking for someone to give them permission to go for it.

They want that promotion or they want to ask that person out on a date but they listen too much to that nagging voice in their head that tells them it’s too risky.

How many decisions have you made in life based on the expectations of others? If you are anything like me, you may be too embarrassed to admit the actual number!

Fam, I’m sick and tired of living life based on what other people think I should do! In fact, I’ve kicked that line of thinking to the curb and I haven’t’ looked back since.

I’m not saying that it’s easy by any stretch of the imagination. There are a TON of factors that can trap someone into this obligatory way of thinking. Religion, tradition, culture, and so many other factors can all play a part in keeping you stuck and chained to the expectations of the people around you.

Whether they realize it or not, people around you who weigh you down with these expectations are limiting your capacity and your opportunity for genuine fulfillment in your life!

It may pain you to confront this but you deserve a life unencumbered from the expectations of your family, friends, and peers. You can’t truly thrive if you are constantly looking to others for validation and acceptance.

You can do this, break free from the obligations that people have placed on you. Learn how to live life on your terms. Make your decisions, the good ones, and the bad ones because you choose them!

When you do this, your success and accomplishments will be that much sweeter!
