David Wilber teaches on the Torah Portion Toldot. When Jacob and Esau were born, Jacob came out holding Esau's heal. This was a foreshadow of Jacob's deep desire to be the firstborn. In fact, we see this playing out throughout Jacob's childhood. He deceived his brother Esau and even (with his mother's help) his own father Isaac. Although Jacob received both the birthright and blessing, he nevertheless reaped the rotten fruit of his actions. What can we learn from this story? David Wilber unpacks this portion of Scripture and discusses several powerful lessons found within. The idea of whether or not "the ends justify the means" in the case of Jacob's deceptiveness is explored, along with what truly compelled Jacob to go behind his father's back. You will learn about the power of prayer, the danger of parental favoritism, the Biblical concept of faith, and God's power to work through us and transform our character despite our family background. We hope you're blessed by this message!
