In this episode of the Plant-Based Canada Podcast we are joined again by Dr. Jenkins. Dr. Jenkins is moderating the University of Toronto’s ongoing Environmental Lecture Series called “Health and the Existential Threat of the Anthropocene”. The first part of the series aims to draw attention to the destructive force of the Anthropocene and its impact on species loss, climate change, human health, and planetary health… while the second series will explore answers to these problems.
Dr. Jenkins is joined by academics and leaders in journalism, advocacy, and beyond who offer unique perspectives… shedding light on the environmental and health consequences caused by the current rate of resource loss, overpopulation, overconsumption, and industrialization.
And the lectures are freely open to the public, so everyone can get involved.
In This Episode We Discuss

  • What the Anthropocene is, and why urgent action is needed to address the issues stemming from it
  • Various guest speakers involved with the lecture series
  • Some of the biggest human-caused problems contributing to the climate crisis
  • The disproportion impact the climate crisis has on already vulnerable populations
  • A preview of part two of the series, addressing solutions to the climate crisis
