In this episode I interview Alex Orme, who is a woman of many talents. She’s a photographer by trade and gun athlete in her spare time. Lately she’s been putting her efforts towards adventure racing but in a previous obsession, Alex was into mountain biking and has done many a 24 hour race.

Alex was in the team with Tom Brazier (from episode 1) who competed in the 9 day adventure race in New Zealand (GODZone). So we go into more detail about that, but from different angle. I recommend checking out her video of the race which I’ve linked below.

We talk about morale, how it ebbs and flows in long races, and how racing affects your perspective on life. I got some really good insights out of our chat about the nature of mental toughness, which I’m increasingly thinking is more about being able to tell the difference between what’s good for you and what’s not, rather than the opposite idea of just blindly being able to put yourself through whatever.

I will definitely being doing a summary of insights episode some day. I’m learning a lot from these interviews. I hope you enjoy listening to our conversation. Thanks Alex!
