Show Summary: “ADHD is not a curse. It does not mean that you're weaker or less intelligent than others, and it's not something to be ashamed of at all.”

In this special episode, we have Rowhe Siy, a communications professional and a mobility advocate. She uses her knowledge to spread awareness about alternative forms of transportation here in our country. Aside from that, she was just recently diagnosed with ADHD, and we’re here to discuss her experience with it. What is ADHD or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder? Can it affect you in terms of productivity and achieving goals?

Talking about mental health is very relevant, and it is a relief that people are now becoming open-minded about this topic. It is now easy to deal with the first step, which is learning and understanding what ADHD is and finding a professional who can adequately diagnose and discuss the extent of help you need. In most cases, you might think you don’t have this disorder because you can accomplish tasks, but in reality, there is such a thing as high functioning ADHD.

Rowhe shares her story and how she reached the point of seeking professional help. We go one on one with her as she talks about her journey with ADHD, the hacks and strategies she uses to become productive with her job and daily routine, the role of a reliable psychiatrist in this situation, and the importance of a solid support system above all.

Take a mental health break and listen to the inspiring life of Rowhe. Please share this story with your family and friends and spread awareness to them.

Show Highlights:

What is executive functioning in ADHD?

Rowhe 7:41

  • Executive function means you can tell your brain to focus and organize and fulfill one task at a time.

The case of sensory input sensitivity

Rowhe 17:29

  • It's easy for us to get distracted by sensory input. Mine, in particular, is the smell. If there's a smell that I don't like, I get distracted. And then I just shut down completely.

Is doing what you love important for someone with ADHD?

Rowhe 25:45

  • Yes and no. No, because we get bored pretty easily. Yes, because there's a chemical reaction in your brain that helps us focus when there's interest and pressure.

The reality of getting medicated

Rowhe 32:45

  • If you have an ADHD brain, you do not get addicted to your ADHD medications or get dependent. It essentially balances the chemical in your brain to function like a neurotypical person.
