“Congratulations, you’re going to college!” That’s the praise a lot of young adults will have heard in the coming months as we go into the new year. Going to college is a huge milestone in every young adult's life, especially if you are the first in your family to go. But with college comes a whole new ball game in self-discovery, having your own autonomy, and learning about the real world.

For parents, this is usually where your parenting is really put to the test in guiding without forceful impacts. But college isn't all fun and games; it’s still academia and there’s still so much you should be ready for before starting this new phase.

In today’s episode, host Dina and Dr. Joe Magliano discuss the importance of academic reading and understanding in college. They also explain how to promote success through your degree and into your career. Dr. Joe shares his observations as a professor who sees undergraduate students handling their adaptation of reading and writing and how it helps them succeed.
