This is an especially exciting episode for me to be able to share with you. Episode 16 features one of the most important people in my life, Adam Rosenfeld, Founding Partner of Mercer Vine – a boutique luxury real estate brokerage in Los Angeles. We’ve been working together since early 2015 to create a new luxury brokerage with the vision of elevating how luxury homes are bought and sold in Southern California. In this episode, we get to share the story of how we met and how we came to work together. You’ll also learn of the vision that we have for the brokerage that we’ve built from scratch and what we see coming in the next few years. This episode gives you an inside peek to the heart and soul of what we have been spending our energy, blood, sweat and tears on over the past couple of years.

Adam Quotes:

“I think trial by fire for me is the best way to expose myself to growth.”

“There is an interesting YouTube Video about a rabbi talking about lobsters. Basically he says that growth is being uncomfortable and he uses the lobster as an analogy, saying when the lobster is uncomfortable they break out of their shell and they form a new shell, and if it wasn’t for that discomfort the lobster would never be able to grow. Here in Western Society I think we’re at an interesting time because it’s so easy to pop a pill or try whatever kind of fad it is to really do the kind of growth that we don’t actually want to take the time to work on.

“You have to make the conscious choice first [have a positive attitude] and then subconsciously things start to happen and then change.”

“I can’t say there was one defining moment [of shift] – for the most part it was taking charge of my actions and what I was going to do on a daily basis to make myself be busier but to be productively busier, to meet more people, influencers for me – to model my business after people I really admire and respect.”

“I’m very type B. I think my biggest skillset is I know what I don’t know, so that means I’m really good at bringing people along for the ride who are really good at work I’m not good at which is mostly everything.”

“LA is a really interesting place for real estate right now because we are still greatly undervalued in terms of the world market and that’s because we have land. You go to New York City and you’re buying a piece of the sky and it’s a really expensive piece of sky. Here you, get a beautiful piece of dirt and on that dirt you can have a beautiful house and it’s overlooking a beautiful city – and in comparison to London, Tokyo, Hong Kong and New York City, we’re a value.”

“It’s never what you say, it’s how you say it.”

“I truly value the relationships of the people that I’m closest to.”

“In the end what matters more than relationships?”

“I think the best advice for me has been to not get emotional.”

“I can only see so far and typically when I get there, I can see further.”

“Take Action. It’s great to have ideas, but unless you actually step up and do something, nothing’s ever going to change.”
