Intimacy is the act of sharing one's hidden truth. Intimacy requires honesty. In active addiction lying is a way of life. Truth is mandatory in recovery. Only with the advent of honesty is intimacy possible. Removing shame and guilt with the truth of disclosure makes the existence of intimacy an option. The reward of having an intimate relationship produces the happy, joyous, and free existence we strive for in sustained recovery. Only with the cleansing effect of truth can a rewarding intimate relationship become achievable. Honesty has its own reward and an intimate understanding relationship is its highest accomplishment.
Recovery is a process of decisions.
