Curtis Reed, an Advanced Grief Recovery Method Specialist and Transition Coach, shares his journey of healing and growth. He grew up in a broken home with addicted parents and experienced a toxic and dysfunctional environment. After hitting rock bottom, he found faith and joined a church community that initially provided support and transformation. However, he later discovered the destructive nature of the church's leadership culture, which prioritized performance and control over genuine connection and growth. Curtis learned to separate God from the toxic practices and denounce the harmful behaviors while still loving the people. He emphasizes the importance of healthy boundaries and self-care in spiritual communities. In this conversation, Sandi Derby and Curtis Reed discuss the toxic environments they experienced in a church organization. They talk about the systemic problems that were never addressed, the harm caused to young people, and the pressure to conform and stay silent. They also discuss the process of healing and differentiating between the organization and God. Curtis emphasizes the importance of prioritizing inner healing and separating God from the toxic environment.
