Imagine life as an 18 oz glass set beside a gallon container of water, capable of accepting more liquid than it can hold. In this analogy, we'll explore how the capacity of this glass parallels our capacity in four essential aspects: time, physical endurance, mental acuity, and emotional stress. Just as the glass may overflow if filled beyond its limits, each of these capacities has its constraints, requiring careful management to maintain balance and avoid overwhelm.
  • Time:
Picture the water level in the glass as the time available to us. Just as the glass has a limited capacity to hold water, we have a finite amount of time in our lives. We must be mindful of how we pour and use this precious resource, ensuring we don't overflow or run dry. Managing time effectively means understanding when to fill the glass and when to let it rest, allocating it wisely among various tasks and responsibilities.
  • Physical Endurance:
The glass itself symbolizes our physical body, fragile yet resilient. Just as we must handle the glass with care to prevent it from breaking, we must nurture and maintain our bodies to withstand the demands of daily life. Like the water in the glass, our physical endurance fluctuates, requiring replenishment through rest, nutrition, and exercise to keep us strong and capable.
  • Mental Acuity:
Think of the clarity and transparency of the water as our mental sharpness and acuity. Just as impurities can cloud the water, distractions and stressors can obscure our mental clarity. We must safeguard our minds, filtering out negative influences and nourishing our intellect through learning and problem-solving. Clear water represents a sharp mind capable of navigating life's challenges with precision and insight.
  • Emotional Stress:
The surface tension of the water illustrates our emotional resilience. Just as the water's surface can ripple with the slightest disturbance, our emotions can fluctuate in response to external pressures. We must be mindful of the weight we place on the glass, avoiding overwhelming it with excessive emotional stress. Like gently stirring the water to calm its surface, we must practice self-care and coping strategies to manage and alleviate emotional tension.

The process shared in the episode for clearing both mental and emotional space requires an empty sheet of paper or a journal and a pen. We will be covering 4 steps; The Event, How I Feel, How I Want to Feel, and finally, How I'll Use This Going Forward.
  • Event - what exactly are you referencing under the next three headings (ie. physically abused),
  • How I feel - here you will describe how that situation made you feel in great detail - the more detail you lay out the more clearing you'll be able to accomplish.
  • How I Want to Feel - here you will explore the opposite feelings and aim to release the negative thoughts and feelings you have mixed up in the event that you're writing out - the more you can move yourself to feeling more freeing emotions the less control that event can and will have on your life from this point into the future.
  • How I'll Use This Going Forward - here you want to explore how you will leverage your new found emotional freedom to either help you move in a more positive light into the future or use your lesson to help others who've gone through similar issues.
