Dorothy Nicol :

What started out as a hobby with a purpose, became an obsession. Dorothy has lived most of her life in the small town of Lismore in Victoria and she absolutely loves it. So she wanted to do something to help the town and the community when she retired.

In this show Dorothy explain how she bought a property she had admired since she was a girl, and turned it into a small tourist attraction. Following her love of the twentieth century life she started a collection of dresses and gowns. That’s when things got out of hand. The collection grew to mammoth proportions and outgrew their home.

But that is not the whole story. Along the way we talk about Dorothy’s memories of growing up in the country. This is a story of the generosity of strangers, and a retirement with no money, but a never ending quest to do good and help others.

We talk about the characters she has known and the dresses she has gathered. And, the responsibility of owning a large and valuable collection.

This show is a ‘must listen’ if you are interested in ladies fashion from days gone by, and stories of mid last century.
