Five years ago, I jumped down a rabbit hole. I packed up (and sold most of) my belongings and moved to Costa Rica with my 17 year old cat, Harmony. Since that time, it’s been a wild Mr. Toad’s Ride. This week I’m celebrating the 5th anniversary of living in Costa Rica.

It has most definitely been a wild ride. For those of you reading my book about living here, Lost and Found in the Land of Manana, Wildhearted Living in an Imperfect World, you may think it reads like some weird combo version of Once Upon a Time, Bonanza, Weeds, Californication and MadMen. It’s the Wild West meets the 1950’s meets Woodstock. That being said, there have been some life lessons learned along the way and some steps I’ve taken to live a full wildhearted harmonious life.

Today, as I celebrate my 5th anniversary, I’m looking at the top 12 life lessons I’ve learned living in Costa Rica and how really, they can be applied to anyone, anywhere.
