Hey Sats Crew,
I like many today am so wrapped up in the quick dopamine hits from social media, video games, salty snacks, and other euphoric forms of media/entertainment.
I've come to recognize that many of these things are good to me, but just because they are good to me, doesn't mean they are good for me. As I get older I realize I tend to shift towards habits and activities that are fun and easy - but oftentimes don't yield the best long-term outcomes.
In the end, I think most of us want to have long fruitful lives, filled with doing things we love. In this podcast, I go over a lot of the quick and easy dopamine hits that impact me and culture today, and I encourage each of us to take a step back and recognize how we could be better served.

  • Nothing in this podcast is meant to be pessimistic, rather pointing out how we are starved for substance - the sugar example
  • Many of us grew up playing video games and getting that immediate dopamine release after we accomplished some task or completed a mission
  • Relationships used to be traditional and organic, now it is simply a swipe on the app
  • Art used to be invested in, had depth and meaning and now it is simply an NFT that can be generated by AI
  • Game of Thrones with some of my friends - and scrolling tik-tok/insta
  • We now gamble nonstop on sports to get that dopamine thrill, when back in the day we would participate in and play a sport
  • Things are getting smaller, with lower attention spans and our minds are being hijacked for attention at every turn
  • I believe that a return to harder money will return us to a more slower and traditional culture
  • With fiat, everything is distorted and fast-paced - cause it needs to be, cause of the quality, the hamster wheel we are all on and
  • We are less based in our decisions, our principles are often out of whack and we are chasing the gamble and the gain just to keep up

Are there any quick dopamine hits that you are chasing in your life? What routes have you taken to try and reduce these negative neural paths? I'd love to hear each of your thoughts. I've enjoyed putting this together as always.
Best Regards,
SatsMate
